Time Warner wants to launch WiMax in 2009

by Joe on February 9, 2009

It looks like the major cable companies are clamoring to get on the wireless Internet bandwagon. We know that Cablevision and Comcast are working on Wi-Fi rollouts for their customers who are on the go. Time Warner seems to have greater aspirations. They’re one of three cable companies partnering with Clearwire, and plan to roll out WiMax service in at least one market by the end of the year. This wold allow them to add another tier of service, packaging WiMax Internet access with their cable broadband, TV, and phone offerings. I wonder if they’ll use a metered usage system to bill their WiMax service.
