One goal of WiMax will be to use it as universally as possible. This means creating as many devices as possible which can use the technology, including laptops, air cards, netbooks, and smartphones. While we’ve seen some of the first few, we haven’t seen many smartphones and PDAs which utilize WiMax technology. Via Phone Scoop we learn of Samsung’s first WiMax device, the SWD-M100 Mondi. It’s a touchscreen device with a sliding keyboard, though few other details are known at this point. It should be significant, though, as Samsung says it’s the first handheld WiMax device in the U.S.
