Clearwire introduces Wi-Fi router with WiMax connection

by Joe on April 1, 2009

Clearwire is busy rolling out its WiMax service, but the problem is that there aren’t many WiMax-enabled devices. There are plenty around the corner — we discussed a WiMax netbook the other day — but Clearwire is available now in some markets. So how can the company get consumers signed up? By releasing the above-pictured device, which allows up to eight mobile devices to connect to Clearwire’s WiMax network via Wi-Fi. It’s portable, powered by battery, so it’s just as mobile as your BlackBerry/iPhone/whathaveyou. The device will cost $139 once it is released later in April. WiMax service currently runs $10 for a day and starts at $30 per month.
