Is Sprint tops in mobile broadband?

by Joe on January 23, 2009

Via ZDNet, tech blog Gizmodo conducted a test of nationwide mobile broadband services. They wanted to know which major wireless carrier provided the best speeds. So we’re talking AT&T DataConnect, Sprint, and Verizon. They shipped out the proper equipment to staffers in major U.S. markets, including Chicago, New York, Austin, Raleigh, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and Boston. After the jump, see who prevailed (though the title is kind of a giveaway).

First of all, Sprint apparently kills in NYC, which is odd because I haven’t heard many glowing reviews of them from my fellow New Yorkers. It seems that the only place they had a problem was in Raleigh, but Verizon didn’t perform too well there, either.

Sprint has a big opportunity to not only capitalize on these results, but to forge ahead with their Wi-Max deployment and create a robust wireless Internet environment across the country.
