Oftentimes, when we talk about mobile broadband services from major cellular carriers, we refer to the optimal speeds available. In most cases, this means larger markets: cities like Chicago, New York, L.A., etc. Speeds might not be as fast in suburban areas, and service might not even be available in rural areas. However, it appears Sprint is working to improve broadband speeds in smaller markets. In Chillicothe, Ohio, customers are realizing fast and reliable wireless connections from the nation’s No. 3 cellular service provider.
“In Chillicothe, we converted the market to wireless broadband and expanded network coverage,” said Joe Holibaugh, general manager for iPCS Wireless, a Sprint affiliate in Ohio. “Customers in the area can enjoy blazing fast Internet access virtually anywhere.”
…
“The Sprint Mobile Broadband Network offers the speed and coverage to get what you want now,” said Holibaugh. “Customers can download video, music or access the Internet on the go, and business professionals can download files, upload documents and retrieve and send e-mail without being tied to their desks.”
This is good news for the smaller markets of America. Soon, you too could have blazing fast wireless Internet. That is, if you don’t have it already. Chillicothe’s upgrade to EVDO Rev A was originally slated for early 2009, but things are apparently working ahead of schedule. The best part: customer satisfaction seems to be there. You can’t ask for much more than that.
