It looks like Verizon’s acquisition of Alltel has done at least a little good. Customers who are willing to add a secondary line to their Smart Choice Pack can add Wireless Internet for $40 per month. The plan used to cost $60 per month. As expected, Alltel is touting the reduction, saying it can save $240 over the course of a year. They’re right, of course, and considering the price of other mobile broadband plans, this can turn into a very good deal.
It’s important to note that the wireless broadband acts as the secondary line, so it’s not like customers have to add a second voice line. Rather, it’s just adding the plan to their existing Smart Choice Pack. This includes national voice an unlimited data — though unlimited data is defined differently by carrier. These plans also include My Circle features, and start at $69.99 per month — $109.99 with the Wireless Internet option.
